The countdown to retirement
Enter your date of birth: Pensionstimer works out your statutory retirement age in Austria and the exact date, and counts down to it in years, months and days or in working weeks and working days. The app is available in German only and built around Austrian rules.
- Statutory retirement: men 65, women rising from 60 to 65 for those born 1963–1968
- Corridor pension with the staggered increase of the entry age and insurance months since 2026, including the protection clause and the reduction shown
- Altersteilzeit (part-time work for older employees): earliest start and a table of the maximum duration by start year; once agreed, the app counts down to the start and then to the latest possible end, warning if the start is too early or too late
- The days left, big and clear, with a horizon arc from the start of your career to retirement and a marker showing where you are today; statutory pension in copper, corridor pension in moss green, Altersteilzeit in slate blue
- “Next steps” lists every date with the days to go
- Calm design with large type and strong contrast, night blue in dark mode
- Swipe left or right to change the goal, arrows beside the goal name show you can; the calendar/working-days switch sits right below the countdown
- Working days follow your own working week – full, half or off for each weekday – without Austrian public holidays and without 24 and 31 December, with annual leave in days (each one removes a working day) and the time left until the end of the working day
- Plus weeks, weekends and calendar days to go
- Or a custom date of your own
- Home Screen widgets (small, medium) and Lock Screen widgets; on Android a home screen widget in two sizes
- Native Mac app with its own window, goal picker in the toolbar, settings under ⌘, and a menu bar item showing the days left
- No account, no ads, no tracking – everything stays on your device
Requirements
- Available in the Austrian App Store only
- iOS 17, iPadOS 17 or macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later; Android 8.0 or later
- The app is available in German only; there is no English version
Pensionstimer is not legal advice or an official pension statement. Rules as of January 2026. The app does not check insurance months or eligibility for Altersteilzeit, and heavy-labor and long-insurance pensions are not covered. For binding information, ask the Pensionsversicherungsanstalt.
Android
Pensionstimer is now available for Android too, with the same rules and calculations as on iPhone: statutory and corridor pension, Altersteilzeit, calendar or working days with half days, public holidays and leave, a horizon arc, next steps and a home screen widget in two sizes. Your entries stay on the device here as well. Not included: syncing between iPhone and Android.
Testers wanted
Before publishing, Google requires a closed test with at least twelve people who keep the app installed for 14 days. Got an Android phone and willing to help? Write to support@bumberger.at and you will get the invitation link. Thank you!

The retirement date differs from my official pension statement?
The statement from the Pensionsversicherungsanstalt (PVA) is always binding. The app only uses your date of birth and gender; individual circumstances such as child-raising periods or heavy labor are not taken into account. With “Eigenes Datum” (custom date) you can set the date yourself.
How do I get the widget?
Long-press the Home Screen → “+” → choose “Pensionstimer”. For the Lock Screen, use “Customize Lock Screen”. On Android: long-press the home screen → “Widgets” → “Pensionstimer”; when made wider it also shows years, months and days and a larger horizon arc.
What happens to my data?
Your date of birth and settings stay on your device. See the privacy policy for details.
