ThermoCall TC3 and TC4: all SMS commands

With the Webasto ThermoCall GSM module you control your parking heater by text message. This page lists every command with examples and the replies the heater sends back. The TC3 (firmware 3.2 or later) and the TC4 understand the same commands; heating time management is TC4 only.

Basics

  • A command is a single word without spaces; upper or lower case doesn't matter.
  • The heater only responds to phone numbers stored in the ThermoCall box as authorized.
  • Settings commands need the box's access code right in front, for example 1234TIMER1:040. Start, stop and queries work without the code.
  • Every reply from the heater is a text message โ€“ the SIM card in the box needs credit.

Heating

  • START โ€“ starts the heater with the set run time.
  • START0645 โ€“ timer: starts at 06:45 (always four digits, hhmm). If heating time management is active on the TC4, this is the departure time; the heater works out when to switch on.
  • STOP โ€“ switches the heater off.

Queries

  • STATUS โ€“ heater state, auxiliary output, interior temperature and battery voltage.
  • TEMP โ€“ interior temperature.
  • TEMPSTATUS โ€“ the temperature alarms that are set.

Settings (with access code)

  • 1234TIMER1:040 โ€“ run time in minutes, always three digits (here 40 minutes). Factory setting: TC4 30 minutes, TC3 60 minutes.
  • 1234HTMLEVEL:3 โ€“ heating time management (TC4 only): 0 = off, 1 to 5 = comfort level. The heating duration then depends on interior temperature and level.
  • 1234LOTEMP:02 and 1234HITEMP:30 โ€“ alarm text when the temperature drops below or rises above the value (two digits, negative values as -05); OFF turns the alarm off. Requires a temperature sensor.
  • 1234NBANK:+436641234567 โ€“ number the box sends alarm texts to.

Auxiliary output

  • STARTAUX and STOPAUX โ€“ switch the auxiliary output, for example for a fan or an additional heater.
  • 1234TIMERAUX:030 โ€“ run time of the auxiliary output, 5 to 120 minutes, three digits.

The heater's replies

A reply to STATUS looks like this:

Heater: Stopped
Aux output: OFF
Temperature: 2.5C
Battery voltage: 12.42V

The box confirms commands with โ€œMessage Executedโ€, for example Message Executed: START (35m) or Message Executed: TIMER1:040 (40m Set). If something fails, the reason is included, for example Error: Function not available. Missing sensor! for a temperature alarm without a sensor.

If the heater doesn't reply

  • Is your number stored in the box as authorized?
  • Does the SIM card in the box still have credit, and hasn't it expired?
  • Does the car have reception where it is parked (underground car park)?
  • For settings commands: is the access code correct?

Easier with the app

The app Parking Heater Remote sends these commands with one tap, evaluates the replies and clearly shows time left, temperature and battery voltage. On top come a weekly schedule that only heats when it's cold, a start check before you leave, widgets and the Apple Watch โ€“ on iPhone, iPad and Mac. The Android version is currently in testing.
