The app contains no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. As the developer I receive no data from the app. There is no server of mine that the app talks to.

Receipts in your iCloud

Scanned or shared receipts are stored as PDF and JSON in a folder of your iCloud Drive (or in a folder you choose). Text recognition, reading of cash register codes and the evaluation with Apple Intelligence run entirely on your device. Apple's privacy policy governs what Apple processes as part of iCloud.

The Mac app works in the same folder: it reads and writes the same PDF and JSON files, and text recognition and Apple Intelligence run on your Mac. Its settings and learned values stay on the Mac. The Mac app does not upload anything to a Nextcloud; the VIES lookup works as on the iPhone. If you choose a folder on the Mac that a cloud service's sync program keeps up to date (e.g. Nextcloud, Dropbox, OneDrive), that program transfers the files; the respective service's privacy policy applies.

EU VAT lookup (optional)

If the VIES lookup is enabled, the app sends the VAT ID recognized on a receipt to the European Commission's VIES service to determine the issuer's name. Only the VAT ID is transmitted. The lookup can be switched off in the settings.

Nextcloud upload and return channel (optional)

If you set up the upload, the app transfers new receipts (PDF and JSON) over an encrypted connection (HTTPS/WebDAV) to the Nextcloud you specify and collects processed receipts from the return channel folder. Credentials are stored only in your device's keychain. The operator of that Nextcloud is responsible for it, not me.

Sync with online storage (optional)

If you set up the sync, the app keeps the receipt folder (open receipts, statements and month folders, each as PDF and JSON) in step with the storage you choose over an encrypted connection (HTTPS/WebDAV), for example Nextcloud, ownCloud, MagentaCLOUD, IONOS HiDrive, Infomaniak kDrive, pCloud, a Hetzner Storage Box or your own NAS. It uploads new and changed files, downloads files from other devices and deletes files that were deleted on one side. The connection goes directly from your device to that storage; I receive no data. Credentials are stored only in your device's keychain. The provider or operator of the storage is responsible for it; their privacy policy applies.

Notifications

The end-of-month reminder is a local notification on your device; no data is transmitted for it.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (dsb.gv.at). You can delete all data of the app at any time by emptying the folder in iCloud Drive (and, if set up, the folder on your online storage) and uninstalling the app.
