App “Switchworks” · Last updated: September 2026

The app contains no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. As the developer I receive no data from the app. There is no server of mine that the app talks to.

Data on your device

Your MQTT broker address, user name, device list, groups, favorites and settings are stored only on your device. Passwords (broker and web password) are kept in the iOS Keychain. Nothing is transferred to a cloud, not even iCloud.

Connection to your MQTT broker

The app connects to the MQTT broker you enter yourself, usually in your home network. Status and control messages for your Tasmota devices are exchanged over this connection. Whether and how this connection is encrypted (TLS) is up to you in Settings. You operate the broker; I have no access to it.

Direct connection to your devices

For the web interface, backups, restores, the network scan and other compatible devices, the app talks to your devices directly over HTTP on the local network. On request, the network scan probes every address of the chosen subnet. This requires the local network permission that iOS asks for the first time.

Backups

Device backups are stored as files in the “Switchworks” folder of the Files app on your device. They only leave the device if you share them yourself. They may contain credentials of your devices, such as Wi-Fi and MQTT passwords; handle them accordingly.

Firmware check (GitHub)

Only when you open “Firmware updates” does the app ask GitHub (api.github.com) for the current Tasmota release. No data about you or your devices is sent; as with any internet request, your IP address is technically visible. GitHub’s privacy statement: docs.github.com/site-policy. Firmware files are downloaded by each device itself from the address configured on it.

Sensor history

The optional history is produced by a script you run yourself next to your broker. The app reads that data only through your broker; it is never sent to me.

Contact by email

If you email me, I use your address and message only to answer your request.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (dsb.gv.at). You can delete all of the app’s data at any time by uninstalling the app.
